Research & development (R&D) incentives

Victoria University is a Registered Research Service Provider that is recognised as having expertise to perform research and development on behalf of other companies.

The R&D Tax Incentive program helps businesses offset some of the costs of doing R&D to incentivise businesses to undertake R&D and innovate.

About the tax incentive program

The program is open to firms who are conducting eligible R&D, including R&D activities contracted through Registered Research Service Providers like Victoria University.

The R&D Tax Incentive has two core components:

  • a 43.5% refundable tax offset to eligible entities with an aggregated turnover of less than $20 million per annum
  • a non-refundable 38.5% tax offset to all other eligible entities.

Water & wastewater labs
Our water-testing labs are available to our industry partners and include: laboratory and pilot plant membrane facilities, and membrane autopsy facilities.
Sport & exercise facilities
Our $68 million high-technology research facilities meet international standards for best practice and are designed with multiple spaces for interdisciplinary teaching, research, and engagement.
Fire-testing facilities
We have installed a unique large-scale structural fire-test furnace capable of testing structures under combined structural and fire loading.
Health & biomedicine labs
A $51.6 million five-level building at Sunshine Hospital provides current and future health care professionals with cutting-edge education, research and training facilities.
