"One of the most important reasons for studying my course was to explore my creative side. Coming from an industry with a strong business focus and established processes and procedures, space for creativity and lateral thinking was quite limited. In fact it was discouraged in many areas.

Taking the step to go back to university was an opportunity I couldn't let go.

I chose the multimedia course at VU because it offered a diverse range of media for self expression and communication with others. As VU students came from all over the world, they also bring a wealth of cultural diversity with them. I believed that if you can communicate with such diversity, then you are on the right track, in the right discipline, in the right university."

With the access to VU teachers, literature and online tutorials, and the encouragement of my peers, I had additional impetus to continue and enjoy my learning journey. I embraced the process of bouncing back ideas with colleagues and receiving constructive criticism on my work.

My progress in animation, web and video production was quickly recognised, and I was asked to tutor first-year students. I used these new skills for my graduation project, for which I received a high distinction, and for my online folio.

My long-term goal is a shared with a group of artists in my local community. As a member of the committee of management, my vision is to develop the organisation to a level recognised Australia-wide within the next five years, and to raise the awareness of our multicultural society through community-based art projects.
