"In 2001 I enrolled in VU's Bachelor of Psychology (Interpersonal and Organisational). It provided me with a range of knowledge and skills from the psychology discipline, complemented by strong interpersonal and organisational concepts.
I wanted to continue studying when I completed the degree in 2004. After careful consideration, I decided to pursue studies in the field of occupational health and safety.
The staff and lecturers at VU were helpful, encouraging and supportive throughout my studies, and in helping me develop my career.
Just before completing my OH&S studies in 2007, I was employed by PaperlinX as the Group OH&S Co-ordinator. PaperlinX is known as the world's leading fine paper merchant and is Australia's principle manufacturer of quality communication and packaging paper.
My position at PaperlinX has provided an opportunity for me to apply and enhance my OH&S knowledge base, and use the skills from my psychology degree to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people and assist in providing a safe workplace.
The introduction to different subjects in the OH&S course has played an important role in my ability to assist with the PaperlinX audit process."
