What is MY TIMETABLE?

MY TIMETABLE is the University's online allocation system for students. The system is powered by Allocate + technology. MY TIMETABLE can be accessed from any computer that has access to a web browser. You are able to browse available time slots for all enrolled activities and specify your personal preferences for timeslots you would like to attend.

MY TIMETABLE is not a 'first-come-first-served' system. The system collects, ranks, and sorts student's preferences to create a clash-free timetable. You can access the system from anywhere, manage your own timetable, on your own time.

Who can use MY TIMETABLE?

MY TIMETABLE is compulsory for all students enrolled in Higher Education units studying on campus in Melbourne. MY TIMETABLE is not available to students studying from the Vocational or Further Education Faculties

How do I access MY TIMETABLE?

1. Access to MY TIMETABLE is through the MYVU Portal. Log on to the Portal using your User ID, which is your Student ID number. Your default password is your date of birth (DOB) in the DDMMYY format, e.g. if your birthdate is 19 February 1985, your default password would be 190285.

How does MY TIMETABLE work?

Your current enrolment details are shown along the Left-hand side of the screen. Each unit of study lists a number of activity groups (Lectures, Tutorials, Workshops, Laboratories and Practicals). All you need to do is select and enter in your preferred attendance.

Preference Entry Mode

In this mode you select what activities you would prefer to attend. In this mode you can browse available timeslots for all activities that you are enrolled in and specify your personal preferences for timeslots that you would like to attend. These preferences are later sorted and allocated by the Preference Sort run. The timetable will be available when the system is open in allocation adjustment mode. If you make no further amendments to your timetable, then this will be your final clash free timetable.

Please Note:
A preference entry system does not mean 'first-come-first-served.' Students can enter their preferences from anywhere at anytime while the preference entry mode is open and be confident that their preferences will be considered fairly.

Entering Preferences

When you select an activity group, you will be shown a grid of the available timeslots. To register your preferences, you must place a number between 1 and 10 in the boxes provided in preference order. The number one (1) indicates this is your first preference, two (2) is your second preference and so on. There is a minimum number of preferences you must choose. The number required will be displayed when you select the group.

Priority Preference Considerations
If you would like consideration for particular class times due to medical reasons, please register with Disability Services.

Allocation Adjustment Mode

In this mode you have the ability to alter your allocation. You can view your allocations online and then amend them, providing there are vacant seats available. This is a first-come-first-served mode that provides you with an instant reallocation.
Students who did not get allocated during preference entry mode, or have not been allocated an activity, for whatever reason, may use this mode to select from remaining seats. Clash detection is operational throughout this process.
You may view all your allocations at anytime by clicking on "My Timetable". (this section will be reworded once we can test)
