The aim of this unit of study is to introduce students to research methods and approaches associated with business research. The unit examines research philosophies, methods and data collection approaches and the development of research questions related to a specific research topic. The unit explores a range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies and associated data collection approaches. At the conclusion of the unit students will be in a position to select and evaluate appropriate research methodologies for research within the discipline of business, critique published articles and develop a preliminary research proposal.

The pass grade for this unit is 50%. However, progression to the thesis component would require a minimum 70% average across all coursework units.
This unit is not compulsory for any specific course. Depending on the course you study, this unit may be taken as an elective.
