Bryce commenced as a casual research officer with Mitchell Institute in May 2024.

In January 2025 he submitted for examination his research thesis titled, ‘All in this together?’ Precarity, uncertainty and abandonment: A Foucauldian analysis of young people’s experiences of long-term unemployment and living in Melbourne’s west during COVID-19 lockdowns. Later that month he completed an internship with Victorian Skills Authority. During this time, he assisted the Policy and Quality team with the production of a Research Insights Report into the entry experience into Vocational and Education Training (VET) teaching. The research formed part of a broader undertaking to respond to the challenge the VET sector has in attracting and retaining VET teachers.

Bryce’s previous employment history has been concentrated in community services. He was part of a multidisciplinary team which supported clients at risk of homelessness to maintain their housing and develop independence. Prior to this he was employed as a youth development worker supporting young people in residential care. He has performed voluntary work assisting young people in police custody, and secondary-school students from low socio-economic status and migrant backgrounds identified as being at risk of disengaging from education.
