Janelle Howell is an experienced risk and governance professional with a career spanning senior roles across diverse sectors, organisational structures and jurisdictions.

She brings deep expertise in risk management, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance, and is known for her ability to lead teams and organisations through complex transformation with integrity and clarity.

Janelle has held senior leadership roles at major organisations including Lend Lease, Barclays and Allianz in London, and in Australia at National Australia Bank and AMP. She is currently the Chief Risk Officer at Catholic Church Insurance.

In addition to her executive experience, Janelle has held a range of non-executive roles. She recently completed a two-year term as the inaugural Chair of Edmund Rice Education Australia Victorian Schools Ltd and is currently an independent member of several governance and advisory groups.

Janelle is recognised for her strategic thinking and practical approach to designing and implementing effective risk management frameworks. Her collaborative leadership style has supported the delivery of improved risk cultures, stronger governance, and more confident decision-making in complex and regulated environments.

Outside of her professional work, Janelle is a committed long-term volunteer supporting children and young people. She has held senior roles within Girl Guides Australia including as the State Commissioner of Girl Guides Victoria and supports vulnerable young people as an independent person through the Youth Referral and Independent Person Program).

Janelle holds a Masters in Risk Management from the City of London Business School, a Diploma of Insurance from the Chartered Institute of Insurance (CII), and professional certifications, including Senior Associate and Certified Insurance Professional with the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia (GIA).
