Josh is a Dunghutti man from the Macleay Valley and Coast in NSW.
Josh was the first in his family to attend university and holds a Bachelor of Laws, a Graduate Certificate in Legal Practice and an Executive Masters in Public Administration.
After initially practising law as a solicitor for the NSW Crown Solicitors Office and at the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, for the last 15 years Josh has held various executive positions within the Victorian public service across Aboriginal affairs, family violence, health, human services and justice portfolios.
As the former Executive Director of Aboriginal Victoria, Josh played a leading role in the development and passing of Victoria's first treaty legislation and process and has led the implementation of the Aboriginal Justice Agreement as Deputy Secretary for Aboriginal Justice and Deputy Secretary of Youth Justice at the Department of Justice and Community Safety.
Josh is currently Managing Director at professional consulting firm and maintains his passion and advocacy for better outcomes for First Peoples through policy development, education and enhanced Aboriginal self-determination.
