Trish is an education developer and lecturer of Numeracy in the Academic support & development department and teacher of Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Academic Writing in the “Gateway To Nursing” program. She started her career in northern suburban high schools as a Maths, Science and Biology teacher and quickly realised that every Science teacher should be a Literacy teacher and gained appropriate skills.
She also taught many aboriginal students in school, TAFE and as tuition students in the home with some outstanding results. In the nineties she moved to the TAFE and University sectors, teaching students from a wide variety of backgrounds including retrenched adult migrants, youth, ESL, refugees and Australian adult students whilst developing a program to consolidate basic numeracy skills for primary schools.
Trish also sits on the council of the Mathematical Association of Victoria, two state school councils and has represented the Victorian Council of School Organisations on the national school council and parent peak body, ACSSO. As an executive member she has represented ACSSO on the National Literacy Inquiry, the National Forum on Mathematics, the Asia Foundation Forum, the Inquiry into LOTE and various other forums.
