Sport in Victoria: Who's really winning?

This event has already taken place.

Thursday 14 August 2014
Friday 15 August 2014

Join us on 14 and 15 August 2014 for the conference Sport in Victoria: Who's really winning?

This conference will help us answer the question of what it really means for Victoria to be labelled the ‘sporting capital of Australia’, and what we can do to capitalise on our strengths and focus our resources on ensuring that we remain in this position.

The conference will debate and discuss whether:

  • major sporting events are a key driver for the economy
  • it’s possible to win fair when sport clashes with ethics, drugs and science
  • Victoria is the engine room for Australia’s future Olympic success.

Hear from experts in the field of sport, including:

  • Ms Caroline Wilson, Chief Football Writer, The Age
  • Mr Richard Ings, Former Chair, ASADA
  • Mr David Grace QC, President, Athletics Australia
  • Mr John Bertrand, Chairman, Sport Australia Hall of Fame
  • Ms Nicole Livingstone, Chief Executive Officer, Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club
  • Ms Kate Palmer, Chief Executive Officer, Netball Australia
  • many other experts in their field.

Join business leaders, senior sport administrators, elite athletes, senior government officials, and leading academics to discuss the future for Victoria.

Follow the discussion via the hashtag #sportinvic.
