VU Bachelor of Business student Sally-Anne Young has been named among Australia's most employable students at the inaugural GradConnection Top100 Awards.
Sally not only placed in the top 100 students nationally, but was announced as a top-5 finalist in the Business and Commerce category at the Gala Awards Dinner on 27 November in Sydney.
GradConnection established the Top100 to recognise Australia's most employable future graduates across the Accounting and Finance, Commerce, Engineering, Information Technology and Marketing disciplines. Nominees are assessed not just on academic results, also about leadership, volunteering, sports, travel and work experiences acquired during their degree.
Sally is currently studying a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Supply Chain and Logistics Management, which she is due to complete in 2015.
She has taken advantage of VU's flexible learning options for students returning to study, having completed VCE in 2005 and working in a number of administrative roles before returning to study in 2013.
Aspiring to be a Supply Chain Manager for a global company, Sally says that returning to study has been challenging at times but rewarding, and has made her a stronger person.
"I believe that textbooks can only teach you so much and that hands on learning is by far the best and most effective way to gain current knowledge of the industry, this is why I want to participate in a summer internship and eventually graduate program."
