Susan Johnston

Susan is an Teaching Focused Academic within the Victoria University (VU) First Year College.

Susan started her teaching career while she was in the fourth year of her osteopathic education. She enjoyed working in clinical practice for many years, however she feels that teaching is her true career calling. Although Susan teaches into all first year osteopathy units, her key professional interest is human anatomy. She sees anatomy as the foundation of osteopathic education.

Susan has spent the majority of her career at VU teaching first and second year students. The transition into tertiary education can be challenging for some students. Susan enjoys assisting students to transition into the tertiary education environment from the wide range of backgrounds from which they originate. Her move into First Year College is an extension of this teaching interest.

Her research interests include anatomy education and teaching and learning strategies within osteopathic education.
