About Susan Kidd
Dr Susan Kidd is employed as a Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing at Victoria University. Clinically, Susan continues to work as nurse practitioner in primary care.
Susan has been involved as a co-researcher on funded projects including:
- evaluating new mental health services
- oral health and mental health
- the arts and mental health
- working with families in recovery-oriented ways
- improving access to mental health services in rural areas.
She is interested in developing critically reflective mental health practitioners. Her PhD focused on workplace culture and organisation change. Participatory methodologies in research invite a multitude of perspectives to influence health service delivery.
Susan is interested in conducting research in the area of access to evidence-based health care for people with psycho-social disability.

Teaching activities & experience
Currently Susan is teaching in the Bachelor of Nursing in nursing and mental health subjects. Currently the Bachelor of Nursing subjects are being transformed in an intensive teaching mode, known as the "block model".
Susan is a member of HERDSA (Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia) to link and develop a learning and teaching philosophy and portfolio of evidence.
