About Brett Woods
Brett is Research Fellow in the Institute for Sustainable Industries and Liveable Cities and a member of the Youth & Community Research Group. Brett is a researcher, educator and qualified lawyer, with extensive experience in the youth and community sector. Brett has taught across a diverse range of courses at Victoria University ('VU'), including the Masters of International Community Development, Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Physical Education and Sport Science, Bachelor of Criminal Justice, Bachelor of Community Development and Bachelor of Youth Work.

Brett's research focuses on:
Brett is Research Fellow on the Future Proof: young people, disaster recovery and (re)building communities project and the recently Federal Government funded establishment of a Centre of Excellence: Young People and Disasters with the Youth Affairs Council of Victoria. The Centre of Excellence: Young People and Disasters (‘the Centre’) will bring together expertise around young people (12-24 years), youth participation and disasters. The Centre will be a hub undertaking research and knowledge translation in evidence-based, innovative approaches to involving young people as active agents in disaster prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, and community resilience building.
Brett is also conducting a critical feminist examination of gender power relations in two university residential colleges in Melbourne.
