Completing an internship during my masters meant I could apply what I was learning in my course immediately in the workplace.

After starting her career in marketing, Janice Jao was ready to follow her dream into the digital space. She discovered the practical, supportive approach of VU enabled her to enter the profession before she graduated.
“I’m from the Philippines, where I studied my degree in Business Administration (Marketing). I decided to return to study as I was very interested in the digital space. When looking to come to Australia, I discovered VU is in the top 3% of universities worldwide – this helped confirm my decision.
I’ve had a full shift in my career and found my way into the field I wanted to be in thanks to my postgraduate studies in Digital Media.

I took up all the development opportunities on offer such as career seminars, leadership courses and industry mentoring; and I’m currently completing my second mentoring placement at the Bureau of Meteorology. I’m so grateful for all these experiences and the networks I've made through VU’s industry connections.
Recently I gained a UX/UI designer role at Appetiser Apps. I love working collaboratively with stakeholders and various teams, creating engaging and innovative user experiences and visual designs that I’m passionate about.”
