Overview

This capstone unit aims to help students consolidate skills and accompanying psychological knowledge acquired in previously completed psychology units. Students will be asked to complete a major project where they will research and present a poster about a community or workplace topic relevant to psychology. This project will provide an opportunity for students to reflect on how psychological theory and knowledge is translated to address real life issues. In this unit students will also be further prepared for their transition into the workforce by completing structured career readiness activities. These activities will help prepare them for completion of their placement experience and future employment. These activities include articulating the knowledge and skills they have learnt throughout their degree, exploring graduate opportunities relevant to their course and completing a job application for one of these positions.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Investigate potential career paths in psychology and articulate how their knowledge, skills and experience are relevant to graduate positions;
  2. Exhibit advanced psychological knowledge and skills to develop and argue for a proposed solution to a specific community issue, workplace problem, or research question;
  3. Articulate their developing professional identity and elaborate on the relevance of psychological knowledge and skills in a professional context;
  4. Critically reflect on information being presented and communicate feedback to peers in a professional manner; and
