Overview

This unit further develops students’ skills in the assessment, formulation, and treatment using cognitive and behavioural therapies. Learning will focus on extending the application of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) across the lifespan and with diverse population groups. Students will also develop skills in third wave approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Schema Therapy.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Conceptualise, plan and implement treatment based on a CBT framework;
  2. Critically reflect on, contextualise, and apply CBT and other related therapeutic techniques to a client’s individual requirements;
  3. Contextualise the use of a range of CBT and other related therapeutic techniques across the lifespan and for diverse populations; and
  4. Exhibit clinical competencies in regard to provision of CBT and other related interventions.
