Overview

Data Privacy and Cyber Physical Systems Security is a key unit covering the core body of knowledge in cyber security, where students learn advanced topics in wired and wireless networked systems, data security and privacy preserving techniques. This unit includes topics on wired and wireless networked systems; inter-networking standards and OSI security architecture; Information security and data privacy technology; data privacy ethics and legislations; data authentication and data masking. The students will have opportunities to explore latest technologies for data and cyber physical systems in social media; big data; Internet of Things; cloud computing; and consolidate the knowledge and skills for aspects of industry 4.0.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Conceptualise and review the architecture of wired and wireless networks and networked devices;
  2. Analyse security of cyber physical systems;
  3. Adapt the latest data security and privacy preserving techniques in various domains; and
  4. Validate and assess data privacy regulations and ethical constraints.
