Public lectures in 2021

Throughout 2021, VU held dozens of public events, often online due to the restrictions during Covid-19. Of note was the Melbourne Economic Forum, which brings together economic policy thinkers from the University of Melbourne and Victoria University, and public and private institutions including the Productivity Commission, the Grattan Institute and the Mitchell Institute, in discussion and debate to encourage sound government policy making.

Discussion on gendered violence

This Annual Leadership Event was held on December 2021, during the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.

Oration on Aboriginal deaths in custody

The Sir Zelman Cowen Centre’s Annual Oration was delivered by Professor Larissa Behrendt on 23 June 2021, in which she reflected on the 30-year anniversary of the report of 1991 Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody (RCIADIC).

Conferences 2021

Environmental Social & Governance for Sustainability Conference

This conference explores issues such as reporting, assurance, or regulations, UN sustainability goals, measurement, investor expectation and, circular economy. On 29 October 2021 the conference focused on the impact of COVID-19 and future priorities.

Higher Education adapting to the COVID era

In 2021, a year of adapting to COVID-19 restrictions, the biennial conference by the National University of Timor Lorosa’e (UNTL) and Victoria University was held online.

2021 AMT Conference: Exploring the Regions

The 2021 Australian Media Traditions conference focused on questions and issues relating to the diverse history of rural and regional media, both in Australia and abroad.
