2024 Community Tree Planting Day
You're invited to join us at our Community Tree Planting Day, where we aim to plant 2,500 trees in one day.
It's a fun and rewarding day, where you can roll up your sleeves, meet new people and enjoy a hot drink between plantings. The trees we plant will build understory growth and support ecological and biodiversity habitats at our planting site.
Since 2022, VU has planted 10,000 trees at our Werribee Campus, an initiative supported by the Victorian Government’s More Trees for a Cooler, Greener West program which aims to plant 500,000 trees to increase tree canopy coverage in Melbourne's western suburbs.
Re-visiting sites together to plant more trees, we’re building understory growth habitats to reduce urban temperatures, combat air pollution and enhance community health. It’s also a way of ensuring that VU’s campuses and spaces are welcoming, resilient and sustainable.
All VU staff, students and members of the community are encouraged to come along and do their bit towards greening the west.
