Tracy’s story: Pathways
Victoria University (VU) nursing student Tracy is currently studying her Diploma – and has her Bachelor of Nursing in sight, all thanks to VU's pathway options. Seeing her for more than just her ATAR, we enabled Tracy to be able to follow her dream, no matter which way she gets there. Hear her speak on what's ahead, and why she chose VU.
Tracy
I'm Tracy and I'm a VU student studying nursing.
I'm interested in doing nursing because I want to make a big change in people's lives.
I grew up a lot with younger siblings or like cousins for example, and I would love to be able to deliver some sort of like, good health support, especially for kids when they need it the most.
Multiple pathways basically just means that if you don't get the ATAR that you want, there's still other options for you to go into. It's nice that VU saw me for more than my ATAR.
What's unique about VU TAFE is definitely their hands on learning that they offer. It's really amazing because I get to go in simulation labs, which is great for nursing.
So after my VU TAFE, I'd want to go straight into my Bachelor of Nursing and get into pediatrics nursing. The end goal for me is to work in a pediatric hospital, maybe Royal Children's Hospital, for sure.
And that's why I chose VU.
