Open Day 2024 Competition terms & conditions

By entering the 2024 Open Day Registration Competition ("the Promotion"), you (“the Entrant”) agree to the following Terms and Conditions.

Terms & conditions

  1. All information on 'how to enter' forms part of these Terms and Conditions. By entering into these Terms and Conditions, each Entrant warrants that they have read, understood and agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. 
  2. The Promoter is Victoria University (ABN: 83 776 954 731, CRICOS Provider No. 00124K) PO Box 14428, Melbourne, Victoria 8001. 
  3. The Promotion commences on Wednesday 28 February 2024 at 8:00am AEST and closes on Sunday 25 August 2024 at 3:00pm AEST(“The Promotion Period”). Any entry that is not received during The Promotion Period will be invalid. 
  4. Entrants will receive a confirmation message at the time of their entry. 
  5. The draw will take place at 2pm AEST on Wednesday 28 August 2024 at Victoria University, Footscray Park Campus. 
  6. The Promoter will randomly select ten Entrants (“Winners”).
  7. The Promoter will contact the Winners by telephone (if available) and email to confirm the Entrant is the winning entry on Wednesday 28 August 2024. 
  8. If contacted by the Promoter, you have 14 days to respond to the Promoter’s contact and accept the prize according to the terms and conditions set out below. If you do not respond, once that period has elapsed, you forfeit your prize and VU will select another winner. Unsuccessful applicants will not be notified.
  9. No prizes can be collected unless the winner provides proof of identity satisfactory to VU.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Entry is open to Australian Residents aged 15 years and over. Entrants must be individuals and not companies or other entities. Employees of the Promoter and immediate family members of the Promoter and associated agencies or companies anyway involved in the Promotion, are not valid entrants in the Promotion. 
  2. Incomplete, illegible, or incorrect entries, or entries containing offensive or defamatory comments, or which breach any law or infringe any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights, will not be eligible to win.
  3. Entrants must attend Open Day by attending Victoria University’s Footscray campus or Sunshine Campus Open Day on the 18th of August 2024 or City Tower Open Day on the 25th of August 2024 as verified by on-the-day attendance registration.
  4. Entrants must be Australian citizens, Australian Permanent residents, NZ citizens or holders of a Permanent Humanitarian Visa.
  5. The Winners must be newly commencing students enrolled in first year units by February 2025 to claim the Prize
  6. The Winners must enrol in a postgraduate, undergraduate or TAFE course that has a minimum duration of 1-year full-time study to claim the Prize. Free TAFE courses are excluded.
  7. The Winners must apply and enrol as a a full-time or part-time student at Victoria University to claim the Prize.
  8. A limited number of Prizes will be available and are awarded at the sole discretion of the University.
  9. This Prize can be awarded in conjunction with another VU prize.
  10. The Winners must make satisfactory academic progress and maintain full-time or part-time study load during the 2025 academic year.
  11. The Winners who defer or take intermission will become ineligible.
  12. The Prize will be released as a one-off payment after the 2025 Semester 1 Block 2 census date, no further instalments will be made. 
  13. The Prize is not refundable, convertible to cash, or transferable to another individual, commencing study period, or course.
  14. By accepting the Prize, the Winners agree to the requirements and conditions of this Prize.
  15. The University’s decision concerning the assessment of eligibility for the Prize is final, and there is no right of appeal should a person be unsuccessful in winning the Prize, or has the Prize withdrawn.
  16. Victoria University may make changes to these terms and conditions without notice.

How to enter

  1. Entrants must complete all required sections of the Open Day registration entry form and attend an Open Day event.
  2. Entrants may enter in the Promotion once only.
  3. Entrants must apply during The Promotion Period as above.

By entering the Promotion, the Entrant agrees and acknowledges that:

  1. The Promoter will collect the Entrant’s personal information, including the Entrant’s name, likeness, email address and picture/s for the Promoter’s promotional and publicity purposes, which it will keep in accordance with the VU privacy policy, located at http://www.vu.edu.au/privacy
  2. By entering the Promotion, the Entrant agrees to receive information and marketing communications from Victoria University.
  3. In the event that the Entrant is the Winner of the Promotion, the Entrant consents to the disclosure, publication and dissemination of their name and likeness for the purposes of the Promotion, and VU’s advertising and marketing purposes (as Winner of the Promotion).
  4. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any entries not received for any reason during the Promotion Period. No responsibility will be taken for lost, late, incorrect, or misdirected entries. The Promoter is not responsible for technical difficulties with the entry mechanism and does not warrant that the entry mechanism will be available at all times.

Prize Details

  1. The prize is valued at $1,000.
  2. There are ten prizes to be won and the Winner will receive a Victoria University grant to the value of $1,000, which will be credited towards a student’s study, subject to satisfactory academic progression after Semester 1, Block 2 census.
  3. The prize will not be paid out in cash but as a reduction in course costs for Higher Education, Postgraduate or TAFE courses not included under Free TAFE.
  4. The prize value is correct as at the date of printing.
  5. The prize is not transferable or exchangeable.

Decision final

  1. In all matters, all decisions of Victoria University and its staff will be final and cannot be contested. No correspondence or discussions will be entered.
