About Helen Yang

Dr Helen Yang is an Honorary Fellow at the Institute for Sustainable Industries and Liveable Cities (ISILC), Victoria University. She is an external PhD supervisor in the field of accounting research. Prior to her move to La Trobe Business School, La Trobe University in 2019, Helen held a number of academic leadership roles at Victoria University, including Discipline Head of Accounting and Information Systems, a role that she held until recently.

Helen conducts quality and impactful research in the fields of accounting, auditing and accountability (FOR1501) and higher education (FOR 1300). She publishes in top-tiered international journals as a lead author, and also has been successful in a number of national and industry competitive research grants in accounting and higher education areas.

Helen’s teaching is informed by her research in accounting discipline and education. She actively connects with industry and the accounting profession as a member of CPA Australia and as a Technical Reviewer of CPA Program – Financial Reporting (2016-2017). Helen’s significant contribution to the scholarship of international accounting teaching and learning has been recognised nationally at the 2013 Australian Awards for University Teaching.
