Balancing work, life & study
There was respect for the fact that students had worked in the sector for many years, and it was acknowledged that everybody had something to offer to the learning process.

Tina Beltramin found VU supportive of mature-aged students balancing full-time work with family and study commitments.
"I found VU very supportive of mature-aged students like me who were combining work, family and study. There was respect for the fact that students had worked in the sector for many years and it was acknowledged that everybody had something to offer to the learning process.
I was fortunate that VU was selected to be the provider for the SE Melbourne Aged Care Leadership Program, which was designed to support the aged care sector during a period of national reform. As part of this program I was assigned an industry mentor, but was also able to connect with other students and mentors – contacts I can draw on for future and further development.
I currently hold the position of Coordinator Positive Ageing and Community Access at Manningham City Council - a middle management role. My study at VU has inspired me to use more contemporary frameworks and business vocabulary to plan, develop, and evaluate services provided to the community. These are invaluable skills in local government and aged care, with many changes taking place in these sectors."
