Beyond the theory

For international student Gabriela Kian, the decision to study at Victoria University (VU) Sydney was an easy one to make.

“For me, it was important to be able to attend a school with a variety of programs and courses,” Gabriela says.

“Also, I found out that VU offered a course I was deeply interested in and one that would allow me to improve my already-learned skills in my bachelor studies.”

Gabriela came to Australia from Brazil in 2017 to study her Master of Business (Accounting) at VU Sydney.

She says VU’s practical approach to learning is a particular strength of the course.

“In each subject, we have to apply what we have learnt in theory to real business environments.

I like that the core subjects such as accounting processes and business ethics have given me fundamental knowledge and an understanding of different topics, which is essential for my future career as an accountant.

“Furthermore, we discuss the actual processes, standards and regulations of professional accounting in Australia, which makes the course more interactive and valuable.”
