Master of Business (Marketing)
With industry-relevant knowledge, skills and qualifications, VU alumnus Ander Zabala had no trouble securing a job when he graduated from Victoria University (VU).
Shortly after completing his Master of Business (Marketing) in 2018, Ander found employment as a Marketing Coordinator at Paylinx Melbourne - a tech company that specialises which in integrated mobile payments, marketing and media.
"I studied units on Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Business Research Methods, which enabled me to apply the theory to real-world scenarios." Ander, originally from the Basque region in the northern part of Spain, says.
VU gave me the knowledge to be confident when I interviewed for my job because many questions were related to what I had studied.
"Key concepts and aspects of marketing also helped me to understand the big picture and how to face challenges and market to customers.
"Learning about different software such as SPSS and CRM with SAP was also really important because that's the sort of skills employees are looking for."
During his time at VU, Ander worked as a student mentor, supporting students to "adapt as quick as possible to VU's systems so they can focus on their studies".
He says he would recommend VU to prospective international students who are looking for a "high-quality, convenient and affordable university" to fulfil their international study experience.
"Future students should ask as many questions to previous students and VU staff so they can understand how the Australian education system works.
"I would also encourage students to apply for jobs and not be afraid of making mistakes because that is the best way to learn and reflect."
