Discovering digital media

VU’s industry connections, internship opportunities and supportive teaching staff helped Kelsie Cafarella find her career calling.

“I spent my early twenties worrying that I’d never figure out what I actually wanted to do. Eventually I took a risk and returned to study at VU – and it was the best decision I could’ve made. With the help of the course coordinator, I can now see the opportunities awaiting me, but without VU I would still be wandering around, lost. This is my greatest career achievement so far – finally finding my path in life.

VU is a friendly, innovative and on-trend place – I always felt like I was learning skills that made me employable. During my studies I undertook an internship at a web and marketing agency. The business was growing and evolving at the same time I was, so I was able to apply current industry practices I learnt in class to the workplace.

After my internship I was offered a part-time role as a Digital Content Developer and Researcher, with the possibility of full-time work as the business expands. My goal is to hone and build my new skills so that I can continue to move forward in my career.”
