Enhancing tertiary teaching

Carlo Soliman’s passion for developing the next generation of lawyers led him to study the Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education.

"Prior to joining VU I was – and remain – a senior practising lawyer working in commercial law.

I was teaching at VU and have always had a high regard for VU’s courses. I decided to study the Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Preparation at VU to further my knowledge and skills, and to gain a more comprehensive understanding of learning and teaching.

As an experienced lawyer and academic, I have a passion for the enhancement of learning and the encouragement of graduates to excel in their chosen profession.

The best thing about the course is the integration of theoretical concepts and their application to the classroom. This allowed me to appreciate the implications of law I taught in terms of the subject content and its most effective delivery solutions.

VU and its staff were always helpful and supportive. This engenders a real sense of belonging and inclusiveness.

The qualification has provided me with a professional understanding and theoretical appreciation of teaching principles, and how they impact on the important transition between the classroom and the real world."
