Bachelor of Sport Science and Master of Business Administration
A natural-born mentor, Claudia Davey uses her degrees in sport science and business to nurture female football talent and give back to the VU community.
“I chose VU for its focus on the sporting industry. The University provided me with not only a quality education but some incredible networks and mentors. I was challenged to become a better manager and leader, particularly during my MBA studies.
While completing my Bachelor of Sport Science, I was lucky to complete five placements including with Collingwood Football Club and Cricket Victoria, as well as with the Western Jets. I was eventually employed there, first as High Performance Manager and later as Female Talent Manager.
I helped to develop Western Jets female footballers to achieve their ultimate goal of being signed to an AFLW or VFLW club.
I’m now embarking on a new challenge as VFLW Manager at Williamstown Football Club, preparing the Williamstown women’s team for their 2020 season. I also work in sport administration for Trinity Grammar School. Without my MBA and background in sport science from VU there is no chance I would have been able to attain these roles.
I also give back by mentoring VU undergraduate students through the VU mentor program and working with VU sport science, management and osteopathy students on practical placement at Western Jets and Williamstown FC.”
