Gunjan Ramteke’s professional journey began with a TV dream. He studied VU’s Master of Business (Enterprise Resource Planning Systems) and has pursued that dream, all the way from India to Google in San Francisco, USA.
“I used to watch television series about Silicon Valley, and I wanted to learn more about how and why people love to work there.
Moving to Australia to study my Masters in Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP) at VU was one my first important steps into the IT industry.
I chose VU because their ERP courses have a global reputation – for their hands-on focus and strong partnership with SAP. I experienced the benefits of a multicultural learning experience, helping me to understand and work among different cultures. We also had a great balance of classroom learning with practicals.
ERP is such a flexible discipline – it helps you to understand both IT and business domains, which is important when gaining professional and operational roles in the IT and software industries.
After graduation I moved to California and started working with startups in the Bay Area, then I got an opportunity I’d been hoping for, to work with Google Cloud.
I’ve since had several promotions and my current position is Strategic Partnerships Development Manager.
I love it here at Google, for its exceptional work culture, its constantly changing dynamics and opportunities for career growth. Google looks for people from different backgrounds who understand the value and importance of diversity and being adaptable; all qualities that are reinforced at Victoria University.”
