Josh Hose turned a life-changing car accident into an opportunity to excel as a wheelchair rugby player.
"I was involved in a car crash that left me with serious spinal damage at age 18, which put my life on a course I could never have predicted.
I began playing wheelchair rugby as part of my rehabilitation. Eventually, I was chosen to be part of Australia’s Paralympic team for London in 2012. We won gold and each team member received an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2014 for our efforts. Our team went on to the Rio Paralympics in 2016 where we also won gold.
My teachers at Victoria University were very supportive of me as an athlete. They provided flexible due dates for assignments and other adjustments when it was necessary."
Josh is now working as a Peer Support Project Officer at AQA Victoria Ltd, a provider of quality personal care and support to people with a physical disability.
