Overview

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to assist with aspects of risk management in a project. It specifically involves planning for, controlling and reviewing risks associated with the project, and assisting in this process where required.The unit applies to individuals who are project practitioners working in a project support role.

Assessment

For Melbourne campuses

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce & extend knowledge and skill competence within set & controlled parameters in accordance with each unit's learning outcomes & performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work-based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.

Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills:

  • apply project risk management techniques during at least two different projects.
    In the course of the above, the candidate must:
  • assist project manager in identifying and prioritising potential risks and developing risk-management strategies, plans and reporting mechanisms
  • apply, monitor and review risk-control measures, including contingency measures to mitigate risks
  • evaluate, review and report on risk-management processes and make recommendations for future improvements.

Required reading

The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by Victoria University and/or via the Victoria University e-learning system.
