Overview

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to make visits to care recipients to deliver services in their place of residence.This unit applies to workers who are required to deliver services to people in their home or in any temporary or permanent community residence. Work may be carried out under direct, indirect or remote supervision.

Assessment

For Melbourne campuses

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce & extend knowledge and skill competence within set & controlled parameters in accordance with each units learning outcomes & performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.

Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills:

  • schedule, prepare for and undertake visits to five different people in their place of residence
  • identify hazards or risks present during the above visits and respond according to organisational policies and procedures and work health and safety (WHS) standards
  • document all aspects, make referrals and complete reports for each of the above visits according to the person’s needs and organisational policies and procedures.

Required reading

The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by Victoria University and/or via the Victoria University e-learning system.
