This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to work with teachers to support primary or secondary students to develop mathematics skills in number and algebra, measurements and geometry, and statistics and probability as included in current curriculum documents.
Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce & extend knowledge and skill competence within set & controlled parameters in accordance with each unit’s learning outcomes & performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.
Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills:
• contribute to the development of support strategies for two students who are at different levels of mathematical ability and adapt and incorporate strategies and resources appropriate to learner needs
• implement above support strategies on at least one occasion for each student and report to teacher on student outcomes to inform future planning.
The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by Victoria University and/or via the Victoria University e-learning system. Students will be provided with two texts books to assist with their learnings: -Karen Kearns Supporting Education text book -English Grammar
