Overview

In this unit, students will engage in an exploration of curriculum and pedagogy within the paradigm of innovative, 21st century block model learning and teaching practices. The unit will enable students to enhance their awareness of global influences on curriculum and pedagogy in intensive and block teaching modes. This specialised knowledge of block design principles will enable students to reflect upon and critically explore how curriculum and pedagogy align with quality block design principles and broaden understandings of how high engagement teaching practices in block teaching lead to improved student learning outcomes.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Exhibit an understanding of block design principles and high engagement teaching practices
  2. Design and create a block unit of study
  3. Implement block teaching principles in a classroom setting
  4. Critically review, reflect, provide feedback on own and others’ practice
