Overview

This advanced unit introduces and defines project management principles, methodologies, and standards as they apply to contemporary project contexts. Students explore established project management approaches while developing practical skills in business case development, stakeholder engagement, and human resource management. The unit emphasises both theoretical frameworks and their practical application, enabling students to critically evaluate project management approaches. The unit is aligned with Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) professional standards.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Analyse project management principles to comprehend various project delivery contexts;
  2. Critically review and investigate project management methodologies and standards to address diverse project requirements;
  3. Design and formulate project business cases that align with organisational strategic objectives;
  4. Synthesise stakeholder engagement and human resource management approaches to enhance project outcomes;
  5. Critically evaluate the relevance of selected project management theoretical frameworks and methodologies to a variety of project scenarios; and
  6. Participate in an academic community through reflective and critical engagement in academic texts and understanding of principles of academic integrity.
