Overview

This unit is the second in a sequence of four in which students develop relevant professional knowledge, skills and attributes to assess communication and swallowing needs. This unit builds on the content of HHB4001 Speech Pathology Assessment Practices to consider the tools for analysis of gathered assessment data for speech, language, voice, multi-modal communication, stuttering and swallowing models of practice. Learning activities will include inquiry, case studies, simulations, gap analysis and reflection.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Justify the selection of analysis tools to analyse assessment data at a stage-appropriate level across the three domains of the professional standards;
  2. Analyse the provided assessment data at a stage-appropriate level across the three domains of the professional standards;
  3. Authenticate the resultant analysis to determine its suitability to inform both the interpretation of communication and swallowing information and the making of recommendations; and
  4. Exemplify and reflect on person-centred, family-centred and community-centred approaches which respect culture, language and diversity in the analysis of assessment data.
