Overview

As overseas-trained doctors, the main objective of this unit is to provide students with revision and amendment of competencies in diagnostic, management and consulting knowledge and skills in relation to medicine, surgery, obstetrics & gynaecology, general practice, paediatrics and psychiatry as practised in the Australian health system.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Apply diagnostic and consulting methods at a skill level appropriate to the Australian Medical Council’s clinical examination;
  2. Demonstrate management methods at a skill level appropriate to the Australian Medical Council’s clinical examination;
  3. Understand diagnostic and management methods relevant to the Australian Medical Council’s clinical examination.
  4. Practice and production of appropriate time-managed oral interactions between a doctor and a patient / role-player in eight-minute objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) involving history-taking and formulation of management plans.
