This unit explores the practices of contemporary international procurement strategies, examining various procurement methods, pricing options, tendering techniques, and standard contractual forms within complex project team settings. Through the analysis of various case studies, students will explore procurement environments that highlight critical aspects of contracting, including traditional and alternative forms, regulatory frameworks, cost and quality. They will also delve into subcontracting, insurance, performance security, dispute resolution, construction culture, ethical procurement, international market trends, and effective supply chain management. Students will engage critically with these topics, gaining an understanding of how strategic procurement decisions influence project outcomes and align with broader business objectives in the international context. This unit equips students with advanced knowledge and practical skills to manage the complexities of procurement in the construction industry by making informed, strategic decisions that optimise project outcomes and drive business success.
