This unit continues with the concept of forces studied in Engineering Physics 1, beginning with a consolidation of the student’s knowledge of the gravitational force and the idea of 'action at a distance'. These principles are then applied to Electrostatic Forces and the Magnetic Force produced by moving charges as well as electromagnetic induction. The unit extends the topic of energy from Engineering Physics 1 with the topic of thermodynamics including temperature, thermal expansion, heat capacity, specific and latent heat, ideal gases, work and heat in the thermal process, first law of thermodynamics and an introduction to heat engines.
