Overview

This unit describes the skills and knowledge to plan, carry out and review the final outcome of a project based activity focusing on an identified area of interest or need. Learners at this level work independently and continue to build and use their own familiar support resources.

Assessment

For Melbourne campuses

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit’s learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.

Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills:

  • read and interpret a range of information requirements related to the project;
  • record information related to the progress and completion of the project;
  • discuss resource requirements and progress of the project with those involved;
  • gather information to undertake the project;
  • follow an action plan to complete the project according to identified time frames and processes;
  • problem solving skills to identify contingencies to deal with unplanned obstacles related to the project such as notifying relevant staff of a problem;
  • learning skills to apply own knowledge and interests to selection of project activity, and;
  • personal management skills to manage own activities within the project.

Required reading

The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by Victoria University and/or via the Victoria University e-learning system.
