The aim of this unit is to integrate the theoretical and practical components of dermal therapies, to provide students the opportunity to enhance their understanding by applying their skills in the clinical setting. It will assist in transitioning students into professional clinical practice, through engaging with community and industry sectors in external and internal placements in approved healthcare, plastic and cosmetic surgery practices or dermal therapy clinics. The unit reinforces aspects of aseptic procedures, history taking, principles of diagnosis, treatment protocols, the range of treatment skills covered in the course thus far, legal issues and interpersonal and professional communication skills as well as reflective and evidence based practices.
