This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to install and maintain evaporative air cooling systems.
Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce & extend knowledge and skill competence within set & controlled parameters in accordance with each unit’s learning outcomes & performance criteria requirements, incl the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.
Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills:
* installing and commissioning an evaporative air cooling system on a roof including:
* flashing the roof penetration
* installing a plenum box and duct work to three diffusers with at least one diffuser positioned three metres from the plenum box, including appropriate duct work support
* connecting cold water to an isolation valve within one metre of the appliance
* install drain to approved point of discharge
* connecting and completing installation testing and commissioning the systems operation.
The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by Victoria University and/or via the Victoria University e-learning system.
