The IT Capstone Project is the culmination of students' programming expertise, covering various IT projects such as websites, mobile apps, desktop software, and data analysis. This project offers a distinct opportunity for students to apply and combine the knowledge and skills they have gained throughout their university journey, bridging the gap to their IT professional careers.
Students play a crucial role in the successful completion of an IT project, as they are responsible for designing, planning, and executing the essential components. Whenever possible, projects are sourced from industry partners, establishing a vital link between academic learning and real-world IT challenges. Collaboration is strongly encouraged, fostering a collective approach among students to leverage their expertise for these projects.
The IT Capstone Project revolves around a substantial IT undertaking aligned with each student's discipline, situated within the structured framework of two units (IT Capstone Project 1 and IT Capstone Project 2). IT Capstone Project 1 specifically emphasises the project scoping (e.g., topic definition, market analysis, and project benefits), function designing (e.g., functional requirements, sequence diagram, UI design, and pseudo codes), and planning (e.g., timeline and distribution of members' contributions) phases of the project. Project proposals are presented comprehensively, encompassing both a written report and an oral presentation.
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
