Overview

Media professionals need to be experts in media production across multiple platforms. This unit examines some of the technological developments that make possible contemporary forms of artistic expression and communication through media content. It examines conventions of visual language, techniques for shooting and editing video and audio. Industry professionals will be invited to showcase their work and discuss contemporary issues in digital video and sound production.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Develop video, audio and text with reference to contemporary principles of media literacy;
  2. Analyse, evaluate and develop media resources reflective of contemporary media practices;
  3. Reflect on the connections between text, sound and video;
  4. Create a short video project using industry practices.
