This unit investigates processes of security at local and network levels, including security policies and practices, software, hardware and human issues. Content includes: physical and system security; cryptosystems; authentication and authorization; firewalls and port security; secure web protocols (https, ssh) and encrypted tunnelling; intrusion detection and system hardening; security in Virtual Private Networks (VPN). The unit envisages to raise consciousness among the students about their ethical responsibility & privacy; and teach how to employ hacking techniques in an ethical manner.
