Overview

This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to produce onsite drawings for plumbing services work.

Assessment

For Melbourne campuses

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce & extend knowledge and skill competence within set & controlled parameters in accordance with each unit’s learning outcomes & performance criteria requirements, incl the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.
Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills:
* producing three drawings for plumbing services work from any of the following:
* a sanitary plumbing installation
* a sanitary drainage installation
* a mechanical services installation
* a gas installation
* a roofing installation
* a fire services installation
* a water services installation.
The drawings must:
* include 2D plan, schematic or isometric, and sectional drawings
* be presented clearly with appropriate notations and labelling.

Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge:
* drawing conventions and features, including direction, scale, key, contours, symbols and abbreviations
* drawing techniques
* types of drawings required:
* floor plans
* land boundaries and footprint of building
* schematic drawings of pipework
* sectional
* isometric
* how to access relevant information, including codes and standards
* tools, materials and equipment used for creating drawings
* work health and safety (WHS) requirements where measurements are to be taken and recorded.

Required reading

The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by Victoria University and/or via the Victoria University e-learning system.
