Overview

The Professional Experience Placement unit requires students to complete a minimum of 600 hours of work placements. The purpose of this unit is to provide students with hands-on industry experience and prepare them for high-level professional roles through exposure to real-world construction management practices. During this unit, students will identify and engage in approved professional experiences under the supervision of a qualified construction manager or equivalent professional. These placements offer authentic industry exposure, guided by experienced construction managers, and can take place in various environments, including onsite industry locations and hybrid settings. This diversity ensures that students encounter a wide range of practical challenges and workplace dynamics. Through these placements, students will gain a deeper understanding of the professional skills required in construction management. They will have the opportunity to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application, enhancing their competencies in alignment with internationally recognised construction management standards.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Evaluate construction projects to identify opportunities for integrating advanced digital technologies and sustainability practices and processes;
  2. Implement environmentally sustainable solutions to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of construction projects, ensuring compliance with recognised standards and regulations;
  3. Exemplify ethical conduct and professional accountability by adhering to industry standards and legal requirements, while critically analysing and optimising construction management practices; and
