Preference VU #1 to step into next year with confidence.

At Victoria University (VU), we see you—your dreams, potential, and unique path.

We know your ATAR isn't everything. That's why at VU, we offer flexible pathways that allow you to put your passion first. And, our VU Block Model® ensures you'll thrive as you focus on one subject at a time, making it easy to find time for everything else you love doing.

We are here to support you to optimise your preference list, or change your preference, no matter how you go in your exams. Register now to attend the VU Change of Preference Event on 13 December and speak to VU Student Advisors about the many pathways available to help you achieve your goals at VU.

Your guide to preferences

We've put together all the key info you need to know to understand how preferences work, how to change your preferences, and how we'll support you in taking the next big step in your education.

  • Change your course preferences in just a few simple steps

    1. Log in to your VTAC account
Visit the VTAC website and log in using your VTAC ID and PIN.
    2. Open your preference list
Navigate to the 'Preferences' section on your VTAC account dashboard.
    3. Add, delete, or re-order your course preferences
    4. Review, save and submit your changes

    Considerations when changing your preferences

    • Your preference order matters: organise your courses in the order you genuinely want to study them, rather than just how you think you might be accepted.
    • Meet the prerequisites: ensure you meet any prerequisites for your chosen courses; otherwise, you risk not being accepted.
    • Check the course availability: Some courses close before others. Always check that your desired course is still open for applications.
