Overview

This unit of study presents key aspects of high engagement teaching in tertiary education with a focus on Block Mode teaching. It explores a variety of examples of high engagement teaching approaches, and their application to block and intensive teaching modes of learning and teaching. Students will work experientially and collaboratively to examine how their professional practice can incorporate high engagement teaching activities, leaving with practical skills, strategies and tools that can be used in a learning environment.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Critique and conceptually map relevant literature to recommend high impact teaching strategies for block and intensive teaching environments;
  2. Exhibit high engagement teaching strategies in block and intensive learning environments;
  3. Critically review and reflect on own and others teaching practice and provide constructive feedback.
